Judge Entry Deadline: 

Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2022, 5:00 pm

Name Changes Deadline: 

Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, 3:00 pm

Entry limits: 

Schools are allowed up to 4 entries per event. 

Double Entry: 

Competitors may be entered in one event on Friday and then another event on Saturday

Events: 

Friday - 

Original Oratory, Extemporaneous Speaking, Impromptu Speaking, Interps (includes Humorous Interpretation, Dramatic Interpretation, and Program of Oral Interpretation)

Saturday - 

Public Forum Debate, Student Congress, Lincoln Douglas Debate, Spontaneous Argumentation

Topics: 

We will be debating the March topics that will be released by the NSDA on Feb. 1, 2022.

Extemp, Impromptu, and SpAr Topics will not be released prior to the tournament.

Congress Legislation will be the Region/State Legislation located at the UDCA website: https://utahdebatecoaches.org/landing-page/students/congress-legislation/

Judges: 

Schools are responsible for providing Judges. 1 judge for every 4 entries. Judges must    be out of High School at least 18 years of age. (If they are related to one of the competitors please make note of it in the judges notes) If not enough judges are provided, entries may be dropped from the competition.

Food: 

Snacks and Lunch will be provided for Judges and Coaches. There are many local establishments, for food as well.

Friday:

4:00-4:30 pm   On-site Checkin/Judges Meeting

4:30-5:45 pm    Round 1

                        5:45-7:15 pm    Round 2

                        7:15-8:30 pm    Round 3

Saturday:

8:30-9:00 am Judges Meeting

  9:00-11:00 am Round 1 Debates

9:15-11:45 am Session 1 Congress

11:00-1:00 pm Round 2 Debates

1:15-3:45 pm Session 2 Congress

2:00-4:00 pm Round 3 Debates

4:15 pm Awards

*Schedule may change based on entry and judging numbers

Results will be posted round by round for coaches to view, but they may not be released to competitors until after the tournament concludes.

State Qualification: 

Teams must be in the top 50% to qualify full slates for state.

Individual qualifying is top ten or top 50% whichever is more in their event
